Code of Conduct

The following general rule supersedes all others listed below and may be invoked at any time:

Any action or behavior that causes significant interference with convention operations, excessive discomfort to other attendees, or adversely affects Alicorn Inc or Equestria LA’s relationship with its guests, the Wyndham Anaheim Garden Grove, or the public is strictly forbidden and may result in permanent suspension of membership and/or removal from the premises without expectation of refund.

Rules of Conduct

Please follow all Federal, State, County and Garden Grove laws as well as the rules put forth by the Wyndham Anaheim Garden Grove.

Anyone who accepts a membership badge agrees to release and hold harmless Alicorn, Inc and Equestria LA from any claim for personal injuries or other damages or equity arising out of any individual’s activities at Equestria LA, even if such injury or damage is caused by negligence by or on the part of Alicorn, Inc.

As a condition of membership, all Equestria LA attendees are required to abide by these standards of conduct for the entire duration of their stay, even prior to Opening or after Closing Ceremonies.

All convention areas are considered to be “PG” at all times, with the exception of rating-stated panels restricted to adults age 18 and older.

When in public areas attendees may not wear clothing which is overly-revealing, reasonably offensive or inappropriate to the atmosphere of the convention, such as fetish-related garb and accoutrements or attire intended to incite hostility or cause discomfort to others. While we appreciate the freedom of expression of our attendees we all must be respectful of those around us, including families and young children. Attendee clothing and accessories must remain free of gore, sexually-explicit content and anything else reasonably deemed not family-friendly. Clothing must be “street legal” at a minimum, but if an attendee’s clothing is found to be upsetting or offensive Equestria LA staff may ask the attendee to cover up or wear different clothing, and the determination of Equestria LA staff on the matter is final.

No items of any kind, including paper airplanes, may be thrown or dropped from the Wyndham Anaheim Garden Grove balconies, patios, or atrium. No water pistols, silly string, or any other thrown or projectile-type toy may be used in any convention area. Disorderly conduct, including, but not limited to, rough-housing, fighting, yelling, screaming, playing excessively loud music or excessive and loud use of profanity will not be tolerated at any time.

Equestria LA attendees must abide by instructions given by Equestria LA Operations or Administrative staff. Failure to do so will result in loss of membership privileges. Any disputes or concerns may be addressed onsite at Convention Operations.

Equestria LA functions are open only to members, and all attendees should wear their membership badges at all times. A badge is valid only for the person to whom it was issued; badges may not be shared under any circumstances.

Harassment of any kind, including physical assault, battery, deliberate intimidation, stalking, or unwelcome physical attention will not be tolerated. Threats of such actions will also not be tolerated. You may not photograph or film a person without their permission. If an individual or a group tells you “no” or to leave them alone, your business with them is done. This includes individuals who may not be able to walk away, including, but not limited to, staff, vendors, attendees waiting in line or attendees enjoying a convention event. If you continue to attempt to have contact with those people you may be removed from the premises. Remember: cosplay is not consent.

Stalking, following or otherwise harassing or offending our Guests of Honor will not be tolerated. Please refrain from asking inappropriate questions during Q & A or autograph sessions. Do not attempt to enter the Green room at any time and do not loiter outside said room.

Discrimination (based on, but not limited to: gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, body shape or size, or physical/mental disability) is not tolerated.

If you feel that you are being discriminated against or harassed or if you notice someone behaving inappropriately (such as violating hotel or convention policies), we suggest the following:

If you feel comfortable doing so, point out the inappropriate behavior to the person(s) involved. This often will solve the problem.

If you do not feel comfortable talking to the person(s) involved, or if talking to them does not resolve the issues, please report the situation immediately to any Equestria LA staff. Please remember that we need to know about any incidents during the event in order to take action.

Equestria LA is not responsible for solving or mediating any interpersonal problems that may arise between individual members.

Substance Abuse

The sale or other distribution of any illegal or controlled substances is not welcome at Equestria LA. Any individual found to be distributing such substances will be removed and reported directly to the local authorities. Consumption of otherwise-legal alcohol or controlled substances in convention areas is prohibited.

Anyone knowingly or unknowingly providing alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 will be guilty of a felony and will be turned over to the authorities. It is the sole responsibility of persons serving alcohol in room parties to ensure that every person in attendance is over the age of 21, even if that person is not drinking alcohol. The California Liquor Control Board is extremely serious about this law and we ask our members to respect it.

Miscellaneous Notes

The standards of conduct for Equestria LA will be strictly enforced by Equestria LA staff who will be clearly identified as such on site. Please remember that your convention badge of membership is the property of Equestria LA and must be presented and/or surrendered to any staff member requesting it. If you have any problem with any action taken by a staff member you may take the matter up with the Chief of Operations or to Equestria LA’s Chairperson.

Please be reminded that these rules involve, of course, “worst-case” scenarios and are put into place to ensure the safety and comfort of our members. We anticipate no difficulties as our members as a whole are rational and responsible individuals. Equestria LA is prepared to deal with any or all of the above scenarios in as rapid and efficient a manner as possible should they occur.

We thank our members for their assistance in making this a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Have fun and please remember to be courteous of those around you while doing so!
